I went to the La mécanique des dessous (behind the seams) exhibition few weeks ago at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris . It is all about the history of underwear from the 14th century till today and display over 200 pieces works.
Both man and women wear the underwear but the female is the common wearer . People at that time want to change their body shape but we didn't have the technique of plastic surgery during middle age . Thus , people can get the body shape they wanted with the help of different kind of underwear.
It's an interesting exhibition and the most attractive section for me is those garments from different brand such as Jean Paul Gaultier , Christian Lacroix , Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen’s , Dolce & Gabbana and etc. All the garments was inspired by corset and they was awesome !! 
There have many different kind of underwear but I'm gonna talk about Corset for this post.
Corset is well-known by people and still wear by some women today.
And this is me LOL !
We study about corset and learn to make during the costume class. Our teacher show us few pieces of corset of her collection . We just want to take pictures but she helped me wear it correctly. (Maybe she think that I have the potential to wear it xD)
It's not easy to put myself into this corset as i keep sniff , hold my breath , shrink my stomach and hold tightly the table. My face blush into red and I feel like want pengsan already.
After wore the corset , my waist measurement was reduce about 9cm. It's difficult to walk and I even can't sit down.
I do look like having a small waist and this make me become a tourism attraction , lots of camera flashing at me. Actually I'm happy. LOL But just hope that I can take it off ASAP .
I just experienced this few minutes and feel like I cant survive with it. Imagine that how those women live during the middle age with their corset everyday.
This is the one of the famous women because of her smallest waist.
Undeniable , the culture of wearing a corset was inspiring and influential. But everything has two side. Nowadays, peoples still discuss about how the corset change the body and also the organs and bones. Furthermore , women will also hard to give birth or even die because the muscle around their waist cannot function normally.
Every girls wanted a small waist , but small as the famous women is weird and too torture for me.
Fortunately , we are living in 21th century. We can see there have lots of gorgeous design of corset and we can wear it when we want to wear. Among the collection of corset , I love the Jean Paul Gaultier spring 2010 spine corset so much especially this black skeleton.
I don't know I will wear corset in my future or not , but I'm sure that I will wear it everyday if i started have belly.
